House Games 2014
The House Games Triennial will be organized for the 4th time this year during the first week of November 2014:
November 2nd – November 8th, 2014
open from 5–7pm on weekdays and 3–7pm on Sun/Sat.
The first House Games was organized in January 2005, and so we are two months short of our 10-year anniversary!
This year we have 25 artists participating from 16 different cities. The exhibition theme revolves around the home through works that touch on the comfortable intimacy of home as well as though specific textures, colours and objects associated with the home environment.

Announcing the Artsits for House Games 2014

Now accepting Submissions for House Games Triennial in 2014
Submission Guidelines:
The next House Games triennial will be held in the fall of 2014.If you are interested in submitting a project proposal for the next House Games exhibition, please send a free-form application including a project description, and project related images (92dpi, minimum 10 x 15cm, maximum 5 images) to the email address below.
The submission deadline has been extended: Project proposals must be submitted by January 31st, 2014. Selected participants will be contacted in February 2014.
Applications are accepted in English, French or Finnish.House Games is interested in providing a rent-free space for a wide range of artists to show new work on the theme of home. House Games will be responsible for and provide: the exhibition space, the maintenance of the space, reception of the public, the hanging/installation of the artwork, invitations/posters, a catalogue and local publicity, at no cost to the artist. Upon negotiation, House Games might also pay for installation materials, digital printing and/or the return costs of the artwork and/or travel fees.
However, please keep in mind that this is a non-profit, artist-run event. The amount of financial aid House Games is able to supply is dependent on any possible grants and other financial support and varies from year to year. If a proposed project is accepted, the exhibiting artists are responsible for most of their own personal (show-related) expenses. However if House Games receives a grant for this year's production the sum will be divided between the participating artists according to their needs. Insurance of the artwork to, from and during the exhibition is the artist’s own responsibility. Artists are strongly encouraged to apply for project grants for the creation/performance/presentation/shipping of their own projects from local institutions in their own towns/countries. House Games will write official invitation letters if need.

The House Games 2011 Report
House Games 2011 has come to a close. It was a fabulous week of activities and inspiration for all of us in the house!
The third triennial, House Games 2011 was open for two hours every day for eight days. Twenty-four artists, from Finland as well as other parts of Europe, North America, Asia and Africa, presented work related to the home, house and/or family. This years’ artists focused on a basic, if not primary aspect of the home: the living ephemeral experience of life (in no specific order): death, birth, play, decaying/aging, collecting and remembering.
The House Games exhibition was accompanied by a series of events which took place every evening between 5 and 7pm. These events included: performances, artist talks, eavesdrop concerts, a displaced sound-environment, a cyberspace dinner party, and a sound piece composed for the visitors to play.
This year House Games collaborated closely with several Finnish artist-groups: The Central Finnish Media-Artist Representative work-group, Live Herring provided one of the House Games artists, Timo Wright, as part of their Live Herring ’11 event; the Off/Balance Dance-group performed an abridged and adapted version of their new, un-previewed, performance “Kynnyksellä”; and the artist-group Tupa 10 worked together for the first time on a collaborative installation which treated ideas of collection, hording and saving, and a local internet radio, Radio Hear broadcast live from and into House Games.
The exhibition attracted 159 visitors in 20 hours, and four artworks were sold. The average length of a visit was between 40 minutes and 90 minutes. The exhibition also received two full-page articles in local and regional newspapers (Keskisuomalainen and K-S viikko) and one radio interview which was transcribed on the national Yle internet news page.
House Games 2011 was in part sponsored by a project grant from the Arts Council of Central Finland.

The deadline for project proposals is December 1st, 2013 and artists will be notified early in 2014. Project proposals are accepted in English, French and Finnish. More details can be found at the House Games homepage. A reminder will go out later in 2013.
